Life Could You Be More Gentle To Me? (By Letting Me Go See The K Boys?)
I have in indescribable amount of rage at not getting to go to the RK show. You have no idea how this is kiiiiiiiilling me. I swear. They played 'Be My Escape' on the radio today which really got me festering, and then I played 'Softer To Me' to check the lyrics (was sad to discover that I wrote a better lyric than Matty T.) and had a fit thinking about him doing his wonderful screaming parts at last December's concert and how I wouldn't get to see that again.
[It was so awesome. The screams are really muted on the album, but of course you can't push foreword and background like that live, so Matt just totally rips out these massive earth-shaking screams that shock you into silence right there on the mosh floor. It's wild. Okay, so they're not exactly earth-shaking, in fact they're really soft compared with Demonhunter or the Agony Scene, or even Christian or Toby Emery. But it's nothing you'd ever expect out of him, you know? You always think of Matt T. as really mellow and giggly, all smiley faces, rainbows and sunshine, so when he screams with such force that it pushes him backwards away from the mic and his face turns the color of your grandma's canned beets, it makes you stop and look twice, eh? Of course with Matt T. you're always stopping and looking twice anyway, but.... you get the idea. *grin* It was pretty wild for Relient K and makes us all stop and rethink our mental image of the K Boys as "Happy Hoopes And Hobbit Holes." I enjoyed it.]
So yes, it thoroughly saddens me to not be able to once again have the Cloud 9-ish experience of having Matt T. at the Newport, just a short, 2-hour drive from Canton and his very own house. And if I think about it any more I will get flaming mad again, so let's just leave it at that.
"I say if you're asking me, love is sacred, love is sweet. My Seventeen magazine tell me that you're in love...."
